WHAT YOU GIVE TO THE BOOK FAIR

Your participation allows the Harlem Book Fair to offer its events and programs at little or no cost to the public.
You become advocates of literacy for all.
You bring your love of books.
Your professionalism and sense of hospitality.
Your joy and enthusiasm are infectious! You will see it reflected in the faces of the fair-goers around you!

ARRIVAL and DEPARTURE

You are expected to act in good faith, arriving on time, serving your shifts honestly and acting as a good-will ambassador for the Harlem Book Fair, treating the audience and other volunteers with generosity & respect.

Plan to be at at the Book Fair Check-in site on Lenox Avenue and West 135th Street 30 minutes before your assignment. Some committees need their volunteers to arrive earlier (see Committee Descriptions).
Most volunteers complete their work and stay to enjoy the events of the day. Some committees need their volunteers to stay later on Saturday to complete their responsibilities (see Committee Descriptions).

All volunteers report to the main Harlem Book Fair Information Tent to sign in, receive lunch vouchers and assignments, and final orientation. A Volunteer Handbook, which will include program events, maps, and other information pertinent to the Book Fair, will be sent to all volunteers in advance of the event. For this reason, we request volunteer email addresses.

HOW TO VOLUNTEER:

Read Volunteer Areas of Interest and Descriptions and select an area of interest. Email your Name, Address, Telephone, Email Address, Area of interest, and Time Commitment to volunteer@qbr.com. We will contact you immediately to confirm your participation. Thank you!
