NOTHING’S SWEETER THAN CANDY!
Ever wonder if the man in your life who’s been incarcerated, turned to another with an alternative lifestyle for comfort? Meet Candy Sweets, a teenaged, pre-op transsexual who gets arrested and sent to federal prison, exactly one week before “her” scheduled sex-change operation. Still having male organs, Candy is housed with strong, masculine, handsome male inmates who haven’t touched a woman in years. Candy soon finds herself being caught in several love affairs with men having families, girlfriends and wives at home—waiting for them to be released. Yet, Candy doesn’t kiss and tell, she understands the code of silence: what happens in prison stays in prison.…

CONVICT’S CANDY deals with sexual identity, prostitution and homosexuality within the prison system, the interactions and relationships between the inmates and officers, infidelity and most importantly, explains how the HIV/AIDS virus spreads rampantly within the prison. It also reveals how the dangerous and deadly disease is transmitted within society, when infected inmates are released to go home.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

DAMON “AMIN” MEADOWS, a native from the streets of South Philadelphia, is the proud father of two beautiful daughters. Chosen by his Muslim brothers as the Imam within the federal prison where he’s based, AMIN is also the co-author of the controversial novel, CONVICT’S CANDY, writing the heartfelt book while serving time, educating the masses on life behind bars from his own personal perspective; while seriously instilling the importance of HIV/AIDS awareness.

In 1993, AMIN was tried and sentenced to life without the possibility of parole, being only a first-time offender. Through his faith in Allah, AMIN has been successful in the appellant process, given a release date that will grant him his freedom in the near future. In between offering Salat, the Muslim prayer five times a day, conducting speeches daily, leading his Muslim brothers while teaching from the Holy Quran, AMIN manages to find time to compose new works.

JASON POOLE was born and raised in Washington, DC and is the proud father of a teenaged son. He’s also Essence magazine best-selling author of LARCENY, and co-author of the ground-breaking book, CONVICT’S CANDY; writing both novels while serving time in prison. In 1996, JASON POOLE was incarcerated on a drug violation charge, currently serving an illegal sentence due to an erroneous enhancement; awaiting appellate relief any day now.
