The Melting Pot of Black Humour is a groundbreaking Black comedy book containing more than 300 stories and jokes supported by excellent illustrations that brilliantly highlight issues affecting the Black community. Unlike so many other Black books on the market, The Melting Pot is unique because it's not afraid to combine the satirical, risqué and crude often humour that will either enlighten or outrage. Regardless, the book is compulsive reading because of the nature of the humour and the manner in which the jokes have been written and conceptualized thus allowing readers of all cultural backgrounds will certainly enjoy.

It’s not unusual to find black books on most issues, available for purchase, but rarely do you come across black books that are comedy based. In fact, I am confident that Punny Punny “The Melting Pot of Black Humour” is the first of its kind to be ever to be published. Hence my well informed view that Punny Punny “The Melting Pot of Black Humour” is the ultimate heavy weight, ground breaking Black comedy book, which hosts more than 500 jokes and stories supported by more than 100 excellent illustrations, that brilliantly highlight socio-economic and political issues affecting the Black community in areas relating to education, employment, travel, terrorism, marriage, infidelity, sexual performance, religion, police brutality, race relations, using parody, satire and humour.

Impressively, the combination of text and more than 100 illustrations certainly bring this book to life. The most endearing aspect of “Punny Punny” is the manner in which it presents itself as a book version of Comedy Def Jam, Saturday Night Live and Blue Mountain Theatre all in one. Furthermore, when reading this book, I could clearly envisage myself hearing the voices of the most well know African-American comedians such as Martin Lawrence, David Chappelle Chris Rock, Chris Tucker, John Witherspoon, Kevin Hart, Wanda Sykes, Monique Imes-Jackson, The White Jamaican, Oliver Samuels, performing their comedy sketches at will for my own personal entertainment.

On reflection, I can sense that “Punny Punny” has been constructed out of frustration with authors of Afro-centric books written by the typical Dr Jamal Waffle-alot and other talking heads who assume that big words and a string of academic qualifications is enough to encourage potential readers to buy into their “No Justice No Peace” ideas.

In some cases it does work, but trust me, this book “Punny Punny The Melting Pot of Black Jokes” works so much better as communication vehicle expressing what many Black people consider to be complex and boring issues. Let me warn you, the use of comedy, parody and satire works for me, this book is an example of how I like to engage in academic and other important issues. The only warning that I offer potential readers of this book; it is not the type of book you read while in the confines of public transport or in space where people can look over your shoulder. I tried it and trust me; I had people on the New York subway, giving me looks as if I had pending psychological issues.

I like this book so much so that if this book was criticized censored or banned from bookshops by detractors such as Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson, I would be the first person to march down the streets of New York with my banners, posters and Tannoy shouting! NO PUNNY PUNNY! NO PEACE.

Without doubt, this book is compulsive reading and I strongly suggest that comedians looking for new material or material to adapt, should seriously consider “Puny Punny The Melting Pot of Black Jokes as the must have Black humour resource book and for the ordinary reader, this is a book that I recommend because it is a very funny and entertaining book.
